The holidays always make me think of a few things: seeing friends, eating sweets and PARTIES. There is no other time that you can dress up and go out almost every night of the week without seeming like a total boozehound. This obscene amount of going out requires new outfits and new clutches! I've been browsing the interweb for that very purpose and came upon this beauty recently: the ASOS Half Moon Clutch.
This week, I've been scouting purses for a gift to myself. I've worked hard this semester and want a retail treat! Dorothy Perkins is a hip "high street" shop from the UK that always has eye-catching pieces. This color block purse reminds me of the Coach Kristen line, but at a fraction of the price!
This week has been a blustery one in my town and I've sadly had to set aside my leather purses. I'm anal and won't bring them out in any sort of bad weather: snow, rain, sleet, etc. I've been looking for fabric purses that can stand up to the northern winter and think I've found one that was just made for Thunder Bay. The Madewell Blanket-Stripe Tote!
Anyone who reads my columns knows that I'm a girly-girl. Pink bows, fluffy teddy bears - the whole nine yards of girly. So, you can imagine my excitement when I found the Tool Leather Lady Bag by Kimchi Blue. Not only is it made of PINK leather, it's embossed with dainty florals AND has the words "lady" in the name. SOLD!
In between mega data entry today, I found myself browsing the beautiful pages of Anthropologie's website. It is truly the most gorgeous and visually-pleasing store I've ever been in. Anthropologie pays careful attention to details that really make a difference in one's shopping experience. Not only that, they also carry a wonderful selection of clothing and accessories, including this week's feature, the Bold Strokes Satchel!
I must be feeling very British this week; another post from across the pond! Miss Selfridge is another "high-street" shop that sells fashionable pieces for reasonable prices. I'm on the lookout for a fall going-out handbag: something small and portable, but cute and very autumn-ish. I think my prayers may have been answered in the form of this "pumpkin" leather bag!
I think unoriginality in naming products may be trendy this season, since every single one of my picks is lacking a fun nickname! ASOS decided not to rock the boat and, thankfully I suppose, put all their creative juices into churning out one of the most eye-catching bags I've seen lately.
Lately, I've found myself using canvas tote bags a lot. When I can't fit all my textbooks, notebooks or other awkwardly-shaped junk into my gorgeous purses, I opt for a tote. Most of mine are quite boring and were free at various conferences or academic events, so I wanted one that I wouldn't be slightly embarrassed to be carrying. And I found it in the Out of Print Book Bag!
Browsing through magazines last week, I noticed that fur accessories have popped up in lots of editorials. Not only fur hats and fur-accented scarves, but strangely enough, purses featuring fur details. I admit, at first this seemed kind of odd, but the furry handbags have really grown on me and I'm itching to add one to my collection. ALDO is a great brand, especially for affordable accessories and I was thrilled to see some fur in the their purse section, including the Opdyke.
Old Navy has really stepped up their game in the past few years. They've transformed themselves from an athletic wear hub to a really fashionable place to shop! Old Navy keeps up on trends and I've particularly noticed a big push in their accessory department to stay on top. The Shoulder Bag is following right on the fall trends with the buckle detail and clasp-closure pocket.
Browsing through purses the other day, my eyes fell upon this adorable clutch! I instantly fell in love and knew it needed to be featured on Baggin' Out. Let me present the Topshop Heart Padded Clutch! If you're not a lover of all things cute and quirky, this may not be your favorite edition of Baggin' Out. Considered yourself warned.
Along with fall pieces come delectable Fall fabrics, my favourite being suede. It's super luscious and just as fancy as leather. Since Zara is now offering online shopping in the States, I decided to celebrate and feature a gorgeous suede purse from their Fall line-up: the Suede City bag.
Every time I go out and want to carry a wristlet (you know, a pouch on a string that goes around your wrist), I always sigh. I only own 2, one black and one nude and for a handbag columnist, that's pitiful. Thankfully, LeSportsac and JOYRICH have come together to solve my wristlet needs in a creative and chic way!
