The nautical look is one of those ageless trends that seems to come back into fashion every few years. And with good reason! The look is classic and flattering; it’s about adding flair to your style. This spring, nautical fashions have been all over runways–Derek Lam and Marc Jacobs have both added nautical accents to their recent collections. Want a taste of their style? This spring, cargo styles seem to have made it out of our 6th grade wardrobes and back into stores and into style. The upside (aside from the genius extra pockets for flask storage, that is!) is that this time around, they are a whole lot cuter then their '90s siblings. Or maybe it's just that we are a lot cuter than our former '90s selves. Either way, I'm a fan.
Maybe it's just the 90 degree heat that's making me dizzy has me thinking summer, but June 21st is just around the corner and I'm already starting to load up on sundresses and break out the plaid shorts. In honor of the simply fantastic weather that the northeast graced me with this weekend, I'm counting down the 10 summer must-haves.
know, I know - blast from the freakin' past, right? I think we all remember sitting in front of the boob tube as a '90s kid watching Nickelodeon like it was our job (well, it kind of was besides sandboxes and swing sets). For a quick style update, add a bangle or two. Or three. Or four. These versatile pieces can be stacked, mixed, and worn with anything! If you're wearing a solitary bangle, make sure it contrasts somewhat in color and texture to the rest of your outfit. For example, pair a beige wooden bangle with a pink and white floral dress.
Summertime. Time to work on our tans, hang at the beach (or on some sick yacht if you happen to know the right people), and wear all those totally cute clothes that only work for three months out of the year. Summer is a great time to bust out pastels, white linen and, one of my personal faves, seersucker.
Let's face it, summer is only 3 months. Is it worth going into debt buying that totally adorable DVF wrap dress? Sure Carrie Bradshaw would say yes, but Carrie Bradshaw is a fictional character. I however, your trusty budget sylista, am 100% reality. And not reality like The Hills reality - reality, reality. So listen up.
Yes, trends come and go, so we should probably just shut up and learn to live with them. However, that...
