After being crowned and dethroned in a matter of minutes all on live television, Miss Colombia arguably had a lot to be PO’d about. If you’ve been busy last-minute Christmas shopping since Sunday night, you may have missed that host Steve Harvey had a bit of a screw up at the Miss Universe pageant – he announced the wrong winner, making for a very awkward live TV moment.
Now, Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez has taken to social media to react to the blunder heard around the world (literally).
The Colombian TV host and fashion model shared two lengthy posts on Instagram – one in English and another in her native Spanish – reacting to the pageant on December 20.
The Instagram posts features photos from the pageant and the English caption reads,
“After the storm comes the calm. I want to thank each and everyone of you who have sent messages of support and strength. Every one of you has become an incredible human being in my book and I am the most fortunate and thankful for having the support not only from one country but from the whole entire world. Your destiny is written for you. And my destiny was this. I was able to bring happiness to my country after becoming Miss Universe for only a couple of minutes… Today because of that COLOMBIA and the LATIN COMMUNITY are being talked about in every corner of the world. I also want to congratulate the Philippines for their new Miss Universe 🙏🏼. The happiness that you must be feeling must be incredible. Life continues and in the future we will find out why things happen the way they happen. Thank you all for your LOVE SUPPORT and KINDNESS. ❤️”
Sounds like a very pageant-like answer to us.
But let’s be honest – Miss Colombia probably got the best deal out of this whole fiasco. She was seen as one of the victims and got more support than she ever would have if she actually won. Like any great celeb, she even has haters – lookin’ at you Perez Hilton. Besides, she looks like a younger Sofia Vergara, so we see a Modern Family cameo in her near future. Her career is going to be just fine. She already has one interesting offer.
