John Legend took to Twitter to slam Donald Trump as a racist on Friday, March 11, after Donald Trump Jr. criticized the protesters who shut down his father’s Chicago, Illinois, rally earlier that day. You can view the tweet below.
Ha 5 students when asked why they were protesting couldn't even answer. The participation medal/micro aggression generation is pretty sad!

Legend didn’t let the comment slide and immediately fired back at Trump Jr.
.@DonaldJTrumpJr I think they were protesting your racist father. This isn't complicated.

Trump Jr. continued to fan the flames and responded back to Legend, downplaying the comment as another unnecessary stab at his father.
Here we go again. That can't be the answer for everything you don't like. That's why the country is so divided now! https://t.co/BFh3XNsl7F

Supporters and critics of Trump jumped into the Twitter fight with their own thoughts, arguing with Legend, Trump Jr. and also amongst themselves. One particular user found himself in the Twitter spotlight when he took a jab at Legend. The singer got the last word.
.@DanielT03571138 @DonaldJTrumpJr the Donalds and I graduated from the same University, funny enough.

Legend and both Trumps attended the University of Pennsylvania.
On Friday, protesters at the University of Illinois at Chicago filled the arena where Trump was supposed to lead a rally. The GOP presidential hopeful postponed the event due to safety concerns.
Earlier this week, a Black protester at a campaign rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina, was punched and attacked by a man in a cowboy hat. He was later identified as 78-year-old, John McGraw. At least two officers who saw the incident happen did not immediately take action to arrest McGraw.
