After Demi Lovato called out Taylor Swift‘s “Bad Blood” music video for being a shady ploy to get back at Katy Perry, Swift threw away her nice girl attitude and hit back. According to a source close to the 26-year-old singer, Swift blames Lovato’s blatant hate for her on jealousy. BOOM.
“Taylor has a tight group of women in her life that all have her and each others’ back and sometimes people just want that,” the source told E! News. “She thought it was unnecessary for her to make those comments. They both have never been really good friends.”
ICYMI, Lovato ripped Swift in a recent interview saying, “I think that having a song and a video about tearing Katy Perry down, that’s not women’s empowerment.” She then went on to berate her “squad” and their thin body types. “This will probably get me in trouble, but I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body,” she told Yahoo. “It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like.”
Naturally, this didn’t go over well with Swifties. After being bombarded with hateful comments in her mentions, Lovato stuck up for herself and her opinions on Twitter.
“I get asked questions. I answer them. Sue me,” she tweeted. “Also don’t forget that words can be taken out of context when doing interviews.. still not apologizing for saying what everyone want [sic] to say.”
Sadly this wasn’t good enough for the haters of the Twittersphere. “I don’t understand why people care so much about what I saw in interviews? Do y’all watch the news? Don’t y’all got sh*t to worry about?”
Later that night, Lovato tweeted that she was taking a break from the entertainment industry come the new year. “So excited for 2017. Taking a break from music and the spotlight.. I am not meant for this business and the media.” When a fan asked if she would return, Lovato responded with, “Dunno. It doesn’t feel worth it anymore. I’d rather do charity work tbh.”
