LISTEN: Kesha Is Officially Back With Her New Single, ‘Praying’

Even though we’ll always think of Kesha as the one to pump us up for high school or college parties with “Tik Tok” and “We R Who We R,” our girl has been having a bit of a hard time lately in both the music industry and her personal life.

Kesha has not released new music since 2012 because of an ongoing legal battle with her former producer Dr. Luke. As of today, on July 6, 2017, we finally have some new music from Kesha!

In October 2014, Kesha sued Dr. Luke for alleged “sexual assault and battery, sexual harassment, gender violence, emotional abuse and violation of California business practices which had occurred over 10 years working together.”

Kesha sued Dr. Luke in New York Supreme Court, attempting to get out of their contract at the record label because he had “sexually, verbally, physically and emotionally abused her since the beginning of their professional relationship.” Kesha also stated during testimonies that he had drugged her repeatedly, had sexual contact with her – with and without consent – and that his verbal abuse was the cause Kesha’s eating disorder.

Dr. Luke countersued Kesha for defamation and breach of contract. The courts eventually ruled in Dr. Luke’s favor.

In April 2017, after multiple attempts by Kesha for an appeal, Dr. Luke was stripped of his CEO title at Kemosabe Records, which he founded under SONY. This move is what allowed Kesha to be able to start producing music without Dr. Luke.

This song is the first single from her upcoming album Rainbow.
