“Act normal bitches,” pretty much sums up last night’s show. Let’s discuss what happened:
1. Losing a a sister, gaining the truth: Spencer seemed to be the most affected by A’s creepy video surveillance, since she almost threw a brick through the shop glass! The other girls talked her down from her peak of crazy though because real friends don’t let friends become vandals. Glad she didn’t though, since Melissa is proving herself to be the dad daughter. She didn’t grace the show with her presence for long before skipping out of town and leaving behind some cryptic note saying that all would be revealed soon…which seems very unlikely for this chick. But then she got all Hastings on Spencer and sent her an iPad with a taped video confession that she was the one that buried Bethany Young alive because she thought Spencer had killed her that night! What a mess but it seems fitting that she’d go out that way. Have fun in England! Spencer also deduced that Bethany’s body was always meant to replace Ali’s in the grave since they were wearing the same top that night.
2. Off the wagon: Uh-oh, looks like Hanna’s sobriety program didn’t work for Caleb. He’s still drinking when he can’t sleep, so Hanna and Spencer reached out to Cadet (formerly Teen Wolf) Toby to talk some sense into him. The power of a bromance will overcome all, even mild alcoholism. Caleb response to his pseudo intervention was the best when he asked, “And when did you become Oprah?” He’s still unwilling to divulge that fact that he was in love with a dead girl but #getoverit. It did bring on a real moment in their relationship when Hanna asked him to be honest with her. Every other relationship on this show is built on lies and deceit, so good luck with that. And oh gosh that Ouija board writing good bye! I guess that dead girl is over him but really it was a great tie-in for that movie they were advertising. See what you did there ABC Family.
3. Aria remembers she has a family: Magic Mike Montgomery aka MMM returns! And he got a haircut? Either way, looking good. Also, Byron is acting like a real dad! What the hell was Aria wearing in that stroll down the hallway scene? It looked like she paired a bad shredded shirt from a carnival with Ms. Frizzle’s skirt. Sometimes I think their stylist hates her character as much as I do. Her big concern this episode seems to be prying Mike away from Mona, which actually seems like a noble pursuit. But Mona did seem so vulnerable when she gave her whole “Mike is a noble man and deserves a fair maiden speech.” Being evil is fun, so she should just own it. And she does seem genuinely concerned that Ali will go after everyone around her, especially after New York. She may have a point.
4. Unlikely bedfellows: For some reason Emily ran to Ezra to talk about Ali turning in Cyrus as her fake kidnapper. Probably because he’s a hacker and can use his creepiness for a good cause. He did seem to find out Cyrus’s many aliases and his penchant for small time crimes but Ali managed to work that in her favor, of course. Emily is probably the best yearner on the show. She’s always pining for something that could have been and things she messed up in the past. Her and Paige were the best couple on this show but Paige would be a fool to take her back. Emily’s best quality is her hair but her worst is how wishy-washy she can be. Can we talk about how Paige looked in that dress and all done up? What a fox! Still don’t know what that was all about though.
5. Officer Tanner, on the prowl: Since Ali was gone the whole episode, the coveted 5th spot goes to Officer Tanner. This woman is on it! One minute she’s telling the girls that it’s okay and she’s there for them but the next she’s asking if they know who killed Bethany Young. She’s a #bosslady though, since after years of incompetent men detectives screwing things up, she’s finally making some headway in solving the case. And then to go and visit Byron! This lady has some intimidation skills and she’s not afraid to use them. It was great to here her explain that homicide cases shouldn’t be that hard to crack at this point.
Season finale next week! And someone is gonna die! Bets on who it will be? Until next time!
