Star Trek’s Alice Eve had a few things to say about Bruce Jenner becoming a woman, and it’s a far cry from the support that has come from most people. The actress who played Carol Marcus in Star Trek Into Darkness took to Instagram to rant about Bruce’s gender transition, saying that the former Olympian is “playing” at being a woman.
Alice wrote, “Nope. If you were a woman no one would have heard of you because women can’t compete in the decathlon. You wouldn’t be a hero. You would be a frustrated young athlete who wasn’t given a chance. Until women are paid the same as men, then playing at being a ‘woman’ while retaining the benefits of being a man is unfair. Do you have a vagina? Are you paid less than men? Then, my friend, you are a woman.”
Some of her followers found her remarks distasteful, however, and said they would unfollow her. Comments included, “This is transphobia at its finest.”
Following the backlash, she deleted her posts and backtracked, posting this instead.
