At the Billboard Latin Music Awards, fans and music industry stars alike wanted to honor Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, the singer who was tragically shot and killed by Yolanda Saldívar, her friend and former employee of her Selena Etc. boutiques. The singer who propelled Latin music into the mainstream was portrayed in a 1997 film about her life by the one and only Jennifer Lopez, so who better than J. Lo to pay tribute to her again?
Jennifer sang a whole medley of Selena’s songs including hits like “Como La Flor,” “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” and “I Could Fall in Love.” The performance started out lighthearted and fun, then the singer was joined on stage by Selena’s widower, her sister, her brother, and some of the members of Selena’s former band. The touching moment will have a whole new generation looking up Selena’s music. Check out the performance below.
