OITNB Responded To The College Student Who Snuck Onto The Set & Took Pics At Litchfield

Litchfield in real life

Turns out Tumblr users weren’t the only ones who took notice of college student Samantha Garella’s amazing photos taken right on the abandoned Orange Is the New Black set. The show’s legal team sent her a friendly reminder that the set is New York state property, and that no one is allowed there without permission.

orange is the new black email

The email reads:

“Hi Samantha,

I hope this email finds you well.

We see that you are a big fan of “Orange Is The New Black,” and appreciate your support and enthusiasm for the show. We love our fans and encourage them to enjoy the show, and share with friends.

While we appreciate your creative eye, you may not be aware that the land used as the location for the prison is private NY State property exclusively leased by us. As such, no one is allowed to enter the property without our permission.

We would appreciate your adherence to the “No Trespassing” signs on the property, and respectfully request that you do not enter the property in the future.

Enjoy the show and look out for a great new season next year!”

My guess is that other people saw the opportunity to visit the set, and OITNB set designers are not trying to have their site ruined by tourists. Oops.

We spoke with Gardella when we first saw the photos, and she says while there were signs, there was no gate or fence keeping people out – she just drove right in.

Besides the slight slap on the wrist, Gardella got a more fun response from the official Orange Is the New Black Twitter account, which issued her a citation from corrections officer John Bennett.

Probably busy watching puppy videos on Instagram.
