Anyone can feign strength and toughness in conversation. When it comes to actually testing that strength? Good luck, if you’re a filthy liar.
Columbia Sportswear has over 75 years of experience in the apparel industry and toughness, so it’s safe to say that they know a thing or two about it. If you’re not a filthy liar when it comes to toughness, we have some great news for you.
Columbia Sportswear has announced two new job openings with their company, appropriately named: the Director of Toughness. This six month position will give two of the toughest individuals the opportunity to test Columbia’s gear throughout North America and the world. The mission is to evaluate not only the toughness of Columbia’s gear, but also the Director of Toughness’ personal endurance.
Columbia will provide each Director of Toughness with Columbia apparel, outerwear, footwear, and equipment in order to demonstrate the durability of Columbia’s sportswear in the harshest of terrains and the most unpredictable of weather. As the two Directors of Toughness traverse foreign and dangerous terrain, they will be documenting their journey. The journey will be publicly broadcasted from national television to social media in order to bring the Columbia community together to travel alongside the two Directors of Toughness for one unique adventure.
This is certainly the opportunity of a lifetime for the athletically-active individual who loves the outdoors, a challenge, and to travel. If I was any good at skiing or snowboarding, I would absolutely apply.
If you think you’re tough enough, you can apply for the position between today and August 31. Applicants who move to the next round after submitting a résumé must attend an in-person screening in either Portland, Oregon on September 8 or in New York City on September 12.
You can learn more about the job opportunity on Columbia Sportswear’s website.
