Prepare To Cringe: A Runner Lost Her Bronze Medal After Celebrating Early

It’s not over until it’s over. Unfortunately, American distance runner Molly Huddle let up a little early during the 10,000-meter race at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing this Monday, costing her the bronze medal.
Steps from the finish line, Huddle slowed down and raised her hands in celebration, giving another runner time to pass her and earn the third place spot. To make things especially awkward at the next practice, that bronze medal finisher happened to be fellow American Emily Infeld.

It’s hard to feel bad for Huddle when Infeld simply did what she had to do – run through the finish line. Infeld told Universal Sports she did feel a little guilty,

I feel like Molly let up a little. I don’t think she realized how close I was. I was just trying to run through the line. I’m really thrilled.

As the commentator said, “There’s a lesson there…”
