‘Empire’ Star Serayah Dishes On What It’s Really Like Being In Taylor Swift’s Squad

By now, I think that everyone has gotten the picture that Taylor Swift has definitely redefined what #SquadGoals means with her badass “Bad Blood” music video. Most of people can admit that they’re extremely jealous of her crew. The only question on people’s minds has been what is it really like being a part of such a star-studded crew? Well, Empire star Serayah McNeill has decided to give us all an inside scoop about her experience being in one of the most famous friend group right now.

In the ASOS’s October 2015 issue, the actress opens up about exactly what being in part of Swift’s squad entails. She first explained how her friendship with Taylor started.

[Taylor] asked to have my number and it just went from there. I didn’t know what to expect. I met her on set and we were all doing our makeup and instantly it was girl time.

Serayah said that she still hangs out with her “Bad Blood” besties and although the group of girlfriends is filled with models and pop stars, they are very normal, much like any other close group of friends. From talking about guys and chilling around in sweats together, Serayah has established that this girl group is not as prim and proper as you may think it is.

We all hang out. We get together and we go eat and go to late-night cafes. I think people think it’s this celebrity gathering, but it’s just a bunch of girls, hanging out. We can put on sweats and Converse and just talk about boys. It’s really fun. It’s totally personal. [Taylor] will text us and be like, ‘Let’s do this.’ Group message — it’s not a manager thing, it’s just a text. It’s never managers, it’s never business, it’s always fun. Normality first.

At last Sunday’s VMAs, the world definitely got a sense of that vibe after the “Bad Blood” squad slayed the VMA red carpet. Serayah even said that before the VMAs, they decided to get ready together in one big dressing room. We should all be so lucky to be apart of a group as tight-knit as this one.
