This is not what Walt Disney had in mind.
Usually when it comes to Disney princesses, words like “beautiful” and “cute” come to mind. Once you see Los Angeles-based artist Andrew Tarusov’s interpretations of Ariel, Belle, and the rest of the Disney leading ladies as vintage pin-up girls, you’ll only be able to think, whoa, that’s a whole other movie.
The illustrations feature Belle dominating the Beast, Snow White making one of her seven dwarves (we’re assuming Bashful?) blush, and Olaf being treated to a show by Elsa and Anna.
Some people think portraying child-friendly cartoon characters like this is wrong. Some comments on Daily Mail read, “Shameful. There’s just no ‘red line’ anymore. These characters are for kids,” and “Super creepy.”
Do you guys think this is just another Disney character reimagining by an artist or is sexualizing cartoons distasteful? Sound off in the comments!
