They say that business is all about location, location, location, but in New York City, you gotta get a gimmick to distinguish your bar from the nine others on the block. As every college student knows, a theme is usually the way to get people intrigued. NYC is full of themed bars, from the Christmas light-illuminated Trailer Park Lounge & Grill in Chelsea to the Beauty Bar in Gramercy that runs a $10 “Martinis and Manicures” deal. Now we can add a Will Ferrell-themed bar to the must-see drinking holes in The Big Apple.
Down on the Lower East Side, “Stay Classy New York” just opened as a tribute to the SNL favorite, complete with Will Ferrell artwork and drinks named after the actor’s most quotable lines.
Zach Neil, one of the bar’s owners, told New York’s PIX11 that he was inspired to open Stay Classy New York because of his obsession with Anchorman. “That one was sort of like, he’s created something that’s absolutely ridiculous and I love it and I watched it five times a week for three years,” Neil said.
We’ll be heading down to 174 Rivington Street to order a Smelly Pirate Hooker cocktail very soon.
