A study session at Dartmouth College was interrupted by students charging through the Novack Library in a Black Lives Matter protest.
According to an account from The Tab, Hundreds of students at Dartmouth were participating in the “blackout” which supported those who are affected by racism on college campuses such as the University of Missouri, which had a president step down after poorly responding to race-driven acts on the Mizzou campus.
After a speech, singing of “We Shall Overcome,” and a few moments of silence, things got intense.
A student who was studying in Novack captured some of the protestors coming into the library where students were peacefully studying chanting “black lives matter” with signs.
He said about his experience, “They kept shouting and started banging on tables. They demanded that people stand up to show their solidarity. Those who did not stand were targeted and questioned.”
“At one point the protestors crowded around a guy sitting on his laptop and stared at him screaming at him ‘If we cant study, you can’t study,'” he added.

The intense harassment continued, even making one girl cry, to which a protestor responded, “F*ck your white tears.”
Mediate reports that tensions continued to rise. Protesters yelled, “F*ck you, you filthy white f*cks!” “F*ck you and your comfort!” “F*ck you, you racist sh*ts!” and flipped off people recording. Things even got physical, with protestors shoving bystanders.
Every day I hear about protests getting violent and shooting threats and gunmen on campus. I am so glad I’m not in college right now.
Black Lives Matter is an important movement, but forcing it upon people while they study and go about their lives is absurd.
