She may have won the Golden Globe, but that’s not solving J. Law’s latest situation.
Jennifer Lawrence is facing quite a bit of controversy right now after calling out a foreign reporter who was on his phone at a press conference for the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.
“You can’t live your whole life behind your phone, bro,” she said, interrupting the reporter mid-question.
When he mistakenly referenced the Oscars, Jennifer attacked him again by saying, “We’re at the Golden Globes. If you put your phone down you would know that.”
Immediately, Twitter began freaking out and scolding Jennifer for her actions. But how can we judge what really happened if we weren’t even there? Maybe she wasn’t being rude to him at all.
A reporter by the name of Chris Trondsen, the host of Pacific Rim Video, was also present backstage at the time of the incident and spoke out about what thought were “unfair attacks from people who weren’t there to see the entire moment in context.”
I was in the press room w/ Jennifer Lawrence. She did NOT bully that reporter. He was not reading questions off of his phone. #GoldenGlobes

The reporter was asking a question but either filming or taking pictures off of his phone while talking to Jennifer Lawrence. #GoldenGlobes

Then he asked about the Oscars when we were at the Golden Globes. Jennifer Lawrence wasn't rude at all. She just wanted him to be present.

Plus everyone in the press room was laughing. It was light hearted. #JenniferLawrence #GoldenGlobes

And what about the theory that the reporter was looking up translations on his phone? Chris said “That never happened”
Like I said yesterday, the reporter was not looking up questions to get help w/ his English as people are falsely reporting.

Plus Jennifer Lawrence LITERALLY JUST won a Golden Globe minutes before & it was weird for one of the 1st questions to be about the Oscars.

I was RIGHT in front of Jennifer Lawrence & right near the reporter & my tweets are how it REALLY went down. Not the Internet rumors.

In fact, Chris even went as far as to post this photo of Jennifer on Instagram and continued to defend her. In the description, Chris stated, “There are a lot of negative rumors going around that she was disrespectful to a reporter & rude because English isn’t his first language. It’s sad because I was right there in the front row & that’s just NOT true! The reporter was holding up his phone, taking photos + video of Jennifer while asking his question and she found it distracting. I found it distracting too. She asked him to put his phone down. Then, she had literally JUST won a Golden Globe & he asked about the Oscars just seconds after winning. It wasn’t the time or place. She handled it in usual Jennifer Lawrence humor & the reporter himself laughed as well as the rest of the press. Don’t believe the rumors, I was there & Jennifer Lawrence was in no way rude. She was a sweetheart when she answered my question & was nice to all the press. 😊”
Do you believe Chris? As I said before, we can’t judge for ourselves unless we were actually there. You won’t always be accurate by jumping to conclusions so quickly.
