The One Easy (And Inexpensive) Way To Drop Those Pesky Pounds

It’s time to cancel those weekly dates with your fav local restaurant…it’s making you fat.

According to the fun suckers at the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, your habit of dining out on the reg isn’t just doing damage to your bank account; it’s also causing you to pack on the pounds.

The study examined the calories in entrées at 123 non-chain restaurants in Boston, Little Rock, and San Francisco between 2011 and 2014. On average, each entrée had a whopping 1,200 calories, with Italian restaurants as the biggest offenders; their dishes averaged 1,556 calories per entrée.

Eeeeeek.

I guess it shouldn’t really come as a surprise, but at least before ignorance was bliss right? The suggested alternative is to whip up some recipes at home. Easier said than done I suppose, considering Americans reportedly spent more on take out than groceries in 2015.

If you have yet to stick to any of your New Years resolutions, I suggest giving this a go. Put down those chopsticks, and get cooking, America…before you get fatter than you already are.
