Guess who won’t be falling into formation? The Miami police.
Huffington Post reports that a police union in Miami, Florida voted to boycott the Formation Tour stop in their town following her controversial Super Bowl halftime show performance.
Javier Ortiz, the president of the #20 Lodge of the Miami F.O.P., issued a press release explaining the position he and the officers in the union are taking with their boycott.
“The Miami Fraternal Order of Police has voted to have all law enforcement officers boycott Beyoncé’s concert which is being held at the Miami Marlins Stadium on Wednesday, April 26, 2016. The fact that Beyoncé used this year’s Super Bowl to divide Americans by promoting the Black Panthers and her antipolice message shows how she does not support law enforcement,” the official statement read.
The hype over Beyonce‘s performance and its message has turned many against the singer. Many have even called it hypocritical considering Queen Bey has gotten police help many times before, including a highway-clearing police escort to get her to Levi’s Stadium without worrying about traffic.
Are the Miami police overreacting or awesome for taking a stand? We want to know your thoughts.
