Apparently working at Kensington Palace for the royal family isn’t worth it…without the paycheck.
According to E! News, employees working for Kate Middleton, Prince William, and the kids at their residence are threatening to strike due to a proposed pay cut for some staff. “Staff fear that they’ll lose up to $5,000 per year after the charity that manages the salaries decided they might have to tighten up the spending reigns,” E! writes.
These staff members facing pay cuts include those who look after exhibits, work in ticket officers, or show visitors around.
While it’s an honor to be so close to the royal family, that doesn’t exactly put food on the table.
A spokeswoman for Historic Royal Palaces toldsaid discussions with the union were still ongoing.
“The changes to working hours affect a small number of colleagues in the front-of-house team at Kensington Palace,” she said in a statement. “We have given a year’s notice of the planned changes and are currently in discussions with the PCS union. We value our staff very highly and hope to reach a mutually satisfactory agreement.”
Let’s hope because Princess Charlotte will not be pleased.
