You Can Win Free Pizza On Pi Day- If You’re Down To Solve A Few Math Problems

Want to win free pizza for 3.14 years? Uhh, I do! Heck, I’d even take 3.14 days.

Unfortunately, it might not be as easy as it sounds.

National Pi Day is March 14 because the numbers 3/14 correspond to 3.14, which are the first three digits of the constant pi. Pizza Hut is kicking off a contest on this day that will earn three lucky winners free pizza pi(e). The catch? Answer three math problems created by Princeton University mathematics professor, John H. Conway.

It’s easy as pi! Just kidding, it’s actually not easy at all. The questions range in difficulty from high school level to PhD level.

There will be three winners, one for each question, but that’s assuming there are some smartypants out there. A spokesperson for Pizza Hut said that even the pizza chain doesn’t know the answers. It’s apparently a “closely guarded secret” held by Conway, who will be the person checking the submissions.

Pizza Hut estimates that 3.14 years of free pizza is worth around $1,600. That’s a lot of pizza- enough to make me wish I payed more attention in math class. SIGH.
