I never thought that Aaron Carter would disappoint me in such a way. It turns out that he doesn’t want candy anymore – he wants Donald Trump.
Aaron Carter recently made headlines when he took to Twitter to endorse the controversial Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump. In an interview with GQ on March 12, Carter explained his reasoning behind his support for Trump.
“I support Donald Trump,” the former child star said, “I don’t support every little thing. Trump goes his own way. He’s a leader not a follower, and he’s proven that by humbling the other campaigns. I think in regards to him becoming president, well, the electoral college will be the decider.”
Carter first expressed his approval of the GOP candidate on February 27 on Twitter. You can view the tweet below.
Shortly after first endorsing Trump back in February, many of Carter’s fans tweeted angrily at the star in order to voice their disagreement with his decision. In the interview with GQ, however, Carter stated, “I don’t regret any tweets. No,” indicating that despite his fans’ ire, he has remained steadfast in his beliefs.
He also revealed that this election cycle is the first time he has ever been “really engaged in politics.” In short, there’s hope that his support for Trump might not last all the way to the voting booth.
“There’s still time to see how it works out. And I haven’t even made my vote. If Trump can’t change some of his ways of thinking, then I’m just going to sit this one out.”
Carter stating that he isn’t going to vote in the election at all if Trump doesn’t change his ways of thinking isn’t all that comforting, if you ask me.
Carter did note that he did not agree with banning gay marriage and that Trump’s idea of building a wall “is totally outrageous.”
At least Carter has some sort of common sense in his body.
