I can’t tell you exactly why, but Almost Famous is one of my favorite movies. It could be because everyone secretly wants to be a band groupie – sorry, I mean Band- Aid – or maybe it’s the way the movie can make you laugh your ass off and say “Aww” within minutes of each other.
Maybe it’s because I knew I wanted to write from a young age like the 15-year-old journalist William Miller, who left home to get a story for Rolling Stone.
But William, played by Patrick Fugit when the actor was just 18 years old, isn’t a kid anymore. It’s been 16 years since Almost Famous was released, but Fugit is still in the acting game. Bet you didn’t recognize him as Officer James Gilpin in Gone Girl while you were waiting for the Ben Affleck butt scene. You probably also missed him in We Bought a Zoo with Matt Damon from 2011.
Wondering what little William Miller looks like now? His Instagram is full of people other than himself, but we still managed to find a few pictures of the now 33 year old.
