Beyoncé Is Reportedly Suing “Feyoncé” Shop For Trademark Infringement

As soon as Beyonce and her “put a ring on it” motto got big, the inevitable Feyonce/fiancée pun soon followed. But when a company decided to make money off of it, Beyonce was all like, “Don’t say my name.” (I couldn’t resist, sorry.)

Feyonce Inc. sells merchandise for brides to be including apparel and mugs that are obviously a play on Beyonce’s trademarked name (apparently you can do that – Kylie and Kendall Jenner are also reportedly trying to do it), including lyrics to her songs. Apparently Queen Bey doesn’t find making money off her name very funny.

Complex reports that she’s suing the company, claiming they are misleading for consumers into thinking she’s involved with the brand and that it negatively affects her personal brand. Apparently Bey’s team has tried to warn the company to stop before citing infringement issues, but they ignored her.

“Seeking to capitalize on the notoriety of Single Ladies, with its famous lines ‘put a ring on it,’ Defendants are selling merchandise bearing the ‘FEYONCÉ’ mark — a misspelling of ‘fiancé’ intended to call to mind Beyonce and her famous song,” the lawsuit said. “Some of Defendants’ merchandise even bear the lyrics ‘put a ring on it’ further solidifying the connection between Beyonce and the unauthorized products.”

Now, I highly doubt that these products are hurting Beyonce in any way, shape, or form (especially financially), but still. I don’t recommend messing with the Queen.
