It’s no secret that Justin Bieber likes to post peculiar things to his social media accounts. From an anime coloring book to a photo of him naked and staring into the sunset, Bieber certainly knows how to cause an online stir.
It would seem that his most recent Instagram post would just be yet another regular day for the musician. However, this Instagram post has caused his fans to believe that Bieber literally thinks he’s God.
Now? Well, now, Justin is firing back.
Late Wednesday night, Justin uploaded a photo of himself cuddled in bed with his puppy, Esther. He captioned the photo, “And on the 7th…,” which is a reference to a passage in The Bible where God rests for a day after creating the universe.
Justin intended the caption to be a harmless way of saying that he was merely going to bed, but instead, it left many fans wondering if the musician had just directly compared himself to God.
Bieber was quick to update the caption and clarify that no, he does not think such a blasphemous thing. And to ensure that everyone saw what he had to say, he took a screenshot of the updated caption and made a separate post on Instagram.
Not even that was enough to satisfy Justin Bieber. He posted again to Instagram to defend himself, posting a screenshot of multiple articles claiming that he had called himself God.
