La Cité du Vin, Aka The City Of Wine, Is The Amusement Park Of Our Dreams

If you love wine (like me 🙋), chances are you always have a bottle – or box – on hand and don’t need an occasion to have a glass – or eight. Do I sound like an alcoholic? That’s a rhetorical question. Yet apparently I’m slacking on my vino knowledge because some literal genius created the ultimate adult Disney World for adults called La Cité du Vin- aka the city of wine – and OMG why didn’t I think of this first?

Situated in Bordeaux, France, this beauty boasts a 250-seat auditorium for screenings and classes, boat rides, a 10-story $91 million museum, saloons and restaurants, and 20 themed areas and exhibits. It’s only an hour flight from Paris or a five-and-a-half hour drive. But TBH, any amount of time seems so worth it.

Oh and as if that weren’t enough, there’s also a “tasting experience,” a multi-sensory space with 3D images and smells. In other words, whatever is on screen, you’ll actually be able to smell right at your seat. Say what?! Technology is insane.

The goal of this whole thing, says director Philippe Massol, is to make La Cité du Vin the world’s largest cultural center of wine; “a Guggenheim for grape lovers.” Well it looks like they’re on the right track.

If this isn’t heaven, I don’t know what is. Who’s ready for a vacation?
