Jamie Lynn Spears Releases New Country Song “Sleepover”

Jamie Lynn Spears has come out of her eight year hiatus with the release of a new song. “Sleepover” gives listeners an insider look at Spears’ life, who only recently came back into the spotlight.

“‘Sleepover’ has really set the tone for my next chapter as an artist. Sometimes I forget that I’m only 25 years old so I wanted to embrace that,” Spears said in a press release. “We as women can be mothers and wives, but we can still be confident, sexy and flirty. ‘Sleepover’ really helped me understand that side of me more.”

Spears co-wrote the song with Liz Rose, one of Taylor Swift’s favorite c0-writers. There was also help from Tina Parol and Corey Crowder. “Sleepover” is a major step for the 25-year-old singer since her controversial teenage pregnancy that stalled her career. But it’s never too late for a comeback. And what better way to do it than with some new music and a TLC special?

Earlier this week, Spears sat down with Cosmopolitan for a candid interview. “I needed to really grow up myself so I could be the woman that my daughter deserves,” she told Cosmo. “And not everything needs to be seen or heard. Even though I was out of the spotlight, I was working very hard on creating a great song catalogue and setting some real cemented foundation for a future for us.”

We’re all for it. Listen to her new single below and tune into her TLC special Sunday night at 10 p.m.
