This Married Couple Met Over Some Clever Tweets

Romance is clearly alive and well in the age of social media.

Back in 2012, a woman named Victoria fell in love with a Twitter account. She was swept off of her feet – in a classic tale of romance – by some tweets from Waterstones, a local bookstore in London.

For a while, the actual person running the account would send her replies and they would converse for a little bit.

However, after a while, the Twitter interaction was not enough and Victoria wanted to meet the man behind the bookstore account in real life.

“One day, Victoria came into the shop with doughnuts. I ate them (giving away a very cavalier attitude to food from strangers),” Jonathan O’Brien, the mystery tweet, said to Mashable. “It was easily the best first date I’ve ever been on (and hopefully the last first date I’ll ever on). I brought a book of The Wizard Of Oz as a present because Victoria had mentioned to me how much she loves the film.”

After that, the rest if history. After the two’s first doughnut date – and four years of dating – the two were recently married.

Of course, Victoria documented the whole thing on Twitter.

If you’re looking to recreate their fairy tale love story, it seems that the current social media manager of the Waterstones bookstore is currently single.
