This Is Why You Shouldn’t Buy Wine On The Weekend

If your weekend routine involves heading to the liquor store and replenishing your wine stock, you may want to stop and reconsider.

The mobile shopping app, Ibotta, analyzed 50 million receipts its users submitted and found some pretty surprising results: If you want to get the best deal on wine – or beer, for that matter – don’t shop on Saturday and Sundays. If you purchase your wine on a Tuesday, you’ll save, on average, six percent. If you like beer, purchase it on Monday. You’ll save nine percent.

The experts at Ibotta also suggested that consumers should not go to the liquor store or the grocery store. They found that Walgreens, Walmart, Costco and Sam’s Club had the best deals on wine. Walmart, Kroger and Target will have your best bets for the cheapest-priced beer.

If you happen to be a white wine drinker, you likely won’t see a big difference in price at those stores. Sam’s Club will give you the cheapest price at about $9.29 per bottle of white. Walmart, on the other hand, comes in a close second at an average price of $9.31 per bottle.

Red wine, however, is where the prices jump the most. At Costco, a bottle will cost you $9.34 while at Walmart, it will cost you $9.48.

While the discount might not seem like much, if you happen to be stocking up for a big party, it can be well worth the effort.

Happy drinking!
