MTV Classic is Bringing Back All of Your Fave ’90s TV Shows

If there’s been one good piece of news about 2016 so far, it’s this. VH1 Classic is being revamped as MTV Classic and will be bringing back some amazing TV shows from our childhoods. The program will be focusing on a mix of ’90s and early ’00s fan-favorite shows, with popular animated shows like Daria and Beavis & Butthead. Other classic reboots that will air include Laguna Beach, Punk’d, Pimp My Ride, Cribs, Jackass, Clone High, Real World and more. Hellooooo, nostalgia.

This ’90s parade will start on August 1st, which is exactly 35 years after the original premiere date. MTV Classic will begin with MTV Hour One, which is the first ever program the channel aired back in 1981. After that, MTV Classic is pulling no punches when it comes to our favorite old shows. They’re using different days and time blocks to highlight the variety of shows, with reality shows airing Monday through Thursday late nights and animated classics like Daria will be featured during primetime hours. If you are more into the music of the last three decades, have no fear. Fridays will be dedicated to music shows, including some best-of episodes of MTV Unplugged.

“From Beavis & Butt-head to Laguna Beach, MTV’s programming vault is a music and pop culture goldmine with universal resonance,” said Sean Atkins, MTV’s President, in a statement. “MTV Classic gives audiences a modern and artful home for classic MTV programming and—alongside MTV, MTV2, MTV Live and mtvU—rounds out a diverse portfolio with music and youth culture at its core.”

“Pop culture goldmine” is definitely the way we would describe Daria too. There are only a few days to prepare for the extreme binge-watching we’re all about to do, so stock up on snacks and grab a bottle or three of wine. August 1st seems so close, and yet so far.
