Man Allegedly Assaulted His Girlfriend Because She Was Snapchatting

According to the Odessa American, Jason Gregg, 30, was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly brutally beat his girlfriend at her apartment. The couple had been out dancing earlier, but when they arrived home, he saw her Snapchatting with a friend from Australia.

He reportedly grew very angry and then kicked her.

The Odessa, Texas, police department pulled the unnamed victim over as she was driving away from the scene at 3:30 a.m., according to The Daily Beast. The officer who stopped her “right off the bat could tell something wasn’t right,” police spokesman Cpl. Steve LeSueur said. The officer noticed blood running down the victim’s face.

The victim told the police that she had left “to let Jason calm down” and that the fight had escalated quickly at home. When Gregg allegedly choked her and threw her onto the counter, she began screaming. He reportedly silenced her by covering her mouth and nose until she couldn’t breathe.

According to the police, Gregg eventually let her go and she was transported to Medical Center Hospital after she was pulled over. Police then located Gregg outside of the apartment and he was detained.

Gregg was released from Midland County Jail on $75,000 bond. He was charged with a second-degree felony of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.
