This Is What The McDonald’s Of The Future Looks Like

A McDonald’s in St. Joseph, Missouri, is being called the future of the fast-food chain – and it’s not solely because they offer their customers unlimited french fries. According to the St. Joseph News-Press, the location opened up on Thursday morning.

The new space is large at 6500 square feet and will have a 24-hour drive-thru window. When you arrive at the location, you can place your order on a touchscreen kiosk – or you can order at the kiosk like at any other McDonald’s – and then sit down. A McDonald’s employee will bring your food to your table.

Your order can come in the form of a customized burger or chicken sandwich, which can be upgraded with new toppings such as pico guacamole, maple bacon and sweet onion barbecue sauce. Their infamous fries come in tiny metal baskets, which are mini versions of the baskets they used in the fryer.

For a limited time, this McDonald’s location will offer unlimited fries as a promotion.

While you wait for your food, children can play in the play area while grown-ups can sit at interactive, lit-up tables or even play tabletop video games.

“We’re making a shift from fast food to fast-casual,” owner Chris Habiger said to the St. Joseph News-Press.

In addition to new menu items and a new eating experience, this McDonald’s location has also stepped up its dessert menu. There is an entirely different counter for Cafe drinks as well as a dessert bar, which has unlimited options like waffle cones, sundaes, hot fudge, apple toppings and oatmeal raisin cookies.

However, this McDonald’s is only offering unlimited fries for a limited time, so it’s best you head down to Missouri before it’s too late.
