After more years than probably necessary at Rosewood High, Pretty Little Liars is now in its final season. The show’s finale is still a long ways away (probably to give you time to recover from the mid-season finale) but fans are already getting a taste of what’s to come. The show’s creator, I. Marlene King, took to Twitter today to tease some of the finale’s script.
King tweeted lines of the show’s first episode while it was still in the works, so she decided to bring it back full circle by doing the same for the last episode. She begins with an interaction between Spencer and Ali that involves an ominous call to the police:
When I was writing the pilot I tweeted u lines along the way. So let's share the series finale 2gether pic.twitter.com/ZSK0bJGkT5

The police getting involved has rarely done any good, even in Season 1. Actually, especially in Season 1. And what’s that cut-off word in between the dialogue? “Poses with the g-“…as in maybe a gun?
King then dropped another line from the script, this time coming from everyone’s favorite – Toby:

Yes, yes it does, Toby. Especially in PLL. But we’re glad he made it to the season finale, hopefully safe and sound. Then, King dropped a huge bombshell:

Vows!?!? That means there’s a potential wedding! Of course, the creator knows better than to reveal who’s saying that line or who they’re speaking to, but OMG. I’m already ugly crying. This finale can’t come soon enough.
But, as always with PLL, happiness rarely lasts for these people. King tweeted another mystery character line, this time far more ominous than the rest.
Of course it's not all romance, it's PLL. pic.twitter.com/YtEAbnjT7h

Well then. If you’ve seen even just a few episodes, you know the answer to that question is probably a yes. Not to mention that telling sound effect that immediately follows: “SMASH TO…” King definitely enjoys teasing us with lingering suspense. And it’s totally working.
She concluded with a final anonymous quote from the script: “It’s like when you finish a book and you don’t want it to end. Even if the characters are happy, you’re still sad that it’s ending.” Very appropriate for the end of the program, which has been running for over six years now. Based on what King shared with us, the 7th and final season will definitely end with a bang. And who knows? Given that last quote, maybe everything will be alright for the characters.
But probably not.
