Gable Tostee, The Man Accused Of Killing His Tinder Date, Will Appear On ’60 Minutes’ Next Week

Gable Tostee Interview

Brisbane Supreme Court

Gable Tostee was accused or murdering his Tinder date Warriena Wright in 2014 after the 26-year-old fell of his 14th floor apartment balcony. Despite his story being questionable, and the fact that he showed little remorse after Wright fell from her death (he went out to get pizza and call his dad instead of immediately calling 911), Tostee was found not guilty in a recent court hearing and cleared of all charges. Now he’s giving his first interview since the verdict, appearing on Australia’s 60 Minutes.

Scheduled to premiere next week, Australia’s Channel 9 has since released a promo for the interview where Tostee reveals his side of the story.

“This was a guest in my home, it wasn’t supposed to be like this,” he explains to the interviewer. “I restrained her to stop her from attacking me… She was trying to make a lot of noise… I didn’t know what to do — I wanted her to stop.”

But his story is immediately questioned after the presenter plays the clip of Wright begging to go home just seconds before she fell from his balcony. When questioned if he could understand why the public would assume he’s a “cold, heartless, cruel bastard,” Tostee’s response is less than confident. “Well, when you put it that way…” he replies before the clip cuts him off.

The interview will air less than a month after he was found not guilty of Wright’s murder, on November 13. Since the story gained momentum a few months ago, readers have been skeptical of Tostee’s innocence. The two met after Wright was visiting Australia from New Zealand for a friend’s wedding and arranged a date with him via Tinder. According to reports, the two had sex before an argument took place, in which Tostee claimed that she was throwing things at him and he needed to protect himself.

However, a rather thorough recording of their conversations leading up to her death had many placing blame on Tostee. “You’re lucky I haven’t chucked you off my balcony, you goddamn psycho b*tch,” he can be heard saying in the clip. “You’re not going to collect any belongings, you’re just going to walk out. If you try to pull anything I’ll knock you out, I’ll knock you the fuck out — do you understand?”

Wright fell off the balcony shortly after.

Since the promo dropped, many have taken to Twitter to announce their disapproval and disgust, specifically about the six-figure sum Tostee’s collecting for doing the interview.

Sickening stuff to hear #GableTostee collected a six-figure sum for his 60 Minutes interview. #bloodmoney #chequebookjournalism #getinthebin

If #60minutes had any credibility left it has lost it paying for #Tostee interview Can't believe he profits from her death as well

@60Mins instead of interviewing Gable Tostee and paying him a 6 figure amount use the money to educate men on what no actually means.

Can't say I'm surprised with @60Mins their sense of decency is long gone #StopViolenceAgainstWomen #gabletostee or is it #EricThomas #PayDay https://t.co/bkCTAQcqyM
