Perrie Edwards has had it out for Zayn since the 23-year-old singer called off their engagement in 2015, and she hasn’t been shy about it. In her song “F.U.,” Edwards insinuates that Malik cheated on her, while in Little Mix’s book Our World she painted him out to be a monster who broke up with her over text message. Clearly she’s not over the split. But in her latest plot to destroy Malik’s reputation, she’s taking a new approach: going after Gigi Hadid.
Let’s just say Hadid is NOT having it.
According to Hollywood Life, the 21-year-old supermodel went in on Edwards after she heard Little Mix’s “Shout Out To My Ex,” which once allegedly had the lyrics, “Heard he been f*cking some model chick/ Yeah that sh*t hurt, I’ll admit it/ But f*ck that boy, I’m over it. Heard he in love with some other chick/ Yeah yeah, that hurt, I’ll admit it.” As expected, she was pretty pissed.
“Gigi wishes Perrie would just move on and leave her and Zayn alone,” the source told Hollywood Life. “She thinks the song and the lyrics are immature.”
The insider also added that Malik is trying to downplay the situation and continually tells her “not to give [Edwards] any energy thought,” that the song comes from a place of jealousy. Um yeah… it definitely comes from a place of jealousy.
When questioned about the explicit lyrics, Edwards explained, “We had to make it clean. We didn’t want to have the parental advisory sticker on our albums and singles. Even though our fans are our age, 20 or over 18, we still have a lot of young fans. But it does feel good to swear, doesn’t it?”
While Edwards recently claimed that she would never go into full detail on her split with Malik, she clearly doesn’t mind trashing him in the media.
“For a normal girl to go through something like that it’s hard. I think when the whole world is looking at it and talking about it, you feel a bit [affected by it],” she said. “Obviously I didn’t say too much about it, I briefly mentioned it. I wasn’t going to not mention it … You’re in control at the end of the day and I briefly mentioned it, kind of said what happened but I would never get into detail because it is personal.”
Just not personal enough to keep it out of your music and tell-all books. Got it.
