1. She met her husband on the set of a music video.
Teigen met Legend on the set of his single, “Stereo” in 2007. Teigen jokes that while she was in a bikini, “he was in a full suit” and she was immediately impressed as he ironed his own clothes in his dressing room. They began dating casually, together for four years before her proposed.
2. She was a cheerleader in high school.
4. John’s proposal to her was almost ruined by airport security.
Though she admits that she had almost “given up hope” for an engagement ring after dating Legend for four years, he clearly had other plans. As the couple embarked on a trip to the Maldives, Legend hatched a plan to propose, but TSA almost spoiled his surprise. Eventually, without Teigen being tipped off to his idea, Legend was able to propose.
5. Her father is of Norwegian descent and her mother is Thai.

Teigen is close with both of her parents, who mainly reside in Thailand. She also attributes her fondness for food to her parents, often making Thai dishes and posting pictures and videos as she cooks with her mother.
6. She was discovered while working in a surf shop.
She told MTV’s When I Was 17 that despite the fact that she “hated water” she was forced into becoming a California girl as her family moved to the Golden State during her teen years. As she worked on the water, she was one day discovered by an agent but was wary that he would end up being a “creepy” fake photographer. Her father accompanied her to her first photo shoot and she was eventually signed to IMG.
7. She was a substitute model on Deal Or No Deal.
Before achieving her widespread modeling success, Teigen was a substitute model on NBC’s hit TV game show. She worked as an extra from 2006 to 2007, holding suitcases with numbers that guests could choose in order to win millions. Since then she’s graced the covers of several high-profile magazines, released her own cookbook, served as co-host of her own show and become a mom.
