Beyonce may have won the night with her jaw-dropping performance, but she was seriously snubbed during the awards ceremony. While she was the most nominated artist of the year, she only took home two Grammys out of the nine she was up for, and surprisingly lost Album of the Year to Adele.
As the 28-year-old went up to accept her award, she made sure to pay credit to Beyonce in a heartfelt speech that brought tears to Bey’s eyes.
“The Lemonade album, Beyoncé, was so monumental, and so well thought out, and so beautiful and soul-bearing. And we all got to see another side of you that you don’t always let us see, and we appreciate that. And all us artists adore you. You are our light,” she said. “And the way that you make me and my friends feel, the way you make my black friends feel, is empowering, and you make them stand up for themselves. And I love you. I always have. And I always will.”

Adele wasn’t the only on who thought Beyonce was more deserving of the award. To put it lightly, the internet was pissed, especially the Beyhive.

Beyoncé's snub at the #GRAMMYs proves that Black men and women have to work 50,000 times harder just for the same recognition.

Solange and Punch Henderson also threw out shade on Twitter.

Sadly this isn’t the first time Beyonce lost out on Album of the Year. In 2015, her self-titled album lost to Beck’s Morning Phase. Honestly, WTF does Beyonce have to do to win AOTY?! She is officially the Leonardo DiCaprio of the music world.
