Figuring Out Why ‘The Bachelor’ Is Spoiling Their Own Show on the Candy Dish Podcast

When Nick Viall was announced as the next leading man on The Bachelor in the middle of his stint on Bachelor in Paradise, it was odd. But announcing Rachel Lindsay as the new Bachelorette when she’s still competing? JUST. PLAIN. STUPID.

As we discuss on the latest episode of the Candy Dish podcast, we are loving that we get a whole season of Rachel. Not only is she the first black lead in the series (it only took 15 years, ABC), but she’s also the oldest Bachelorette ever and an all-around bad ass chick. She’s not a wannabe model or actress — she’s literally here for the right reasons. Finally.

However, Nick’s season has just become obsolete. We know from previews that Rachel and Nick go on a date in Finland, meaning she does not get eliminated after hometown dates next week. We can also safely assume that the attorney from Dallas won’t be in the final two because we already know she doesn’t win, so what fun is that? The only questions next are who goes home next week and who are the final two — and there are only a small number of possibilities given that only Raven, Vanessa, and Corinne remain.
