Instagram’s New Update Will Have You Seeing The Platform In A Whole New Light

After years of single photo Instagram feeds, the social media platform is switching things up with their latest update. Starting today, Instagram users will have the option to combine 10 photos and videos in a single post instead of listing them individually.

The change is to help those who want to post numerous photos from one event without being the worst. Instead of having to space out 10 photos from your bar crawl Saturday night, you can now post them all at once with one click.

Four blue dots will line the bottom of a multi-photo post so your followers will know to swipe through instead of keep scrolling. On your grid, these types of posts will have the following ombré logo in the upper righthand corner of the slideshow’s opening image:

“This product was inspired by members of our community, who have told us that there are times they want to share more than just one moment from a memorable experience in their feed,” Instagram product manager Yichen Wang told Refinery29 in an email. “The ability to upload multiple photos and videos within one post not only adds depth to those moments, but it also complements other products within the app, such as stories, in a way that makes it easier than ever to share your highlights and everything in between on Instagram.”

As R29 pointed out, the change also comes right before the Oscars this weekend, giving celebrities the ability to post more of their night without bombarding their followers with a ton of posts à la Justin Bieber. We’re feeling the change, are you? Sound off in the comments below.
