Once referred to as a “rising media star” by the The New York Times, Tomi Lahren has earned her time in the spotlight. Like most college graduates, Lahren started off looking for an internship in hopes of finding her dream job. At just 24 years old, the South Dakota native now sits in the host chair and is making good money thanks to her controversial political commentary.

Tomi Lahren’s Net Worth in 2018: $500,000

She’s no millionaire, but for someone who’s only been in the spotlight for the last two years, she’s doing pretty well for herself. Let’s take a look at how she got there.

Lahren grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota, where she attended Central High School. She was raised in a military family and led a pretty normal life. Later she attended the University of Nevada, where she wrote articles for The Review and hosted her school’s show “The Scramble.” After graduating, she moved to San Diego and began her climb to media fame.

In 2015, Lahren made an appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference and earned herself some press after she fought against the stereotype that Republicans are “old, rich, white males.” She responded by commenting on top Democrats: “Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden? Old, rich, white, and if the pantsuit fits…male, too?”

A couple months later, Lahren caused another political stir when she made controversial comments about the Chattanooga shootings. Shortly after, she announced that she was no longer working with OAN. Lahren moved to Dallas, Texas to work with The Blaze, where she is currently employed.

Since Lahren’s career at The Blaze, she has remained one of the most controversial figures in mainstream media. In July 2016, she posted a tweet that compared the Black Lives Matter movement to the Ku Klux Klan and received a ton of backlash. Thousands of people petitioned to get her off the air or at least fired from The Blaze, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

A few months later, she appeared on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah where she discussed Obamacare, Donald Trump, freedom of speech and immigration with the famously liberal late night host. The audience didn’t take to her, but the conversation between the two TV personalities was ultimately peaceful.

Now she’s under scrutiny for describing herself as “pro-choice” during a segment on The View. Aside from her fans turning on her, Lahren’s show has been temporarily suspended.
