Taco Bell Selling Chicken Nuggets, Calling Them Chicken ‘Chips’

I don’t care if it’s in the shape of a triangle. No matter how you look at it, that’s a chicken nugget.

A couple months ago, Taco Bell released a Naked Chicken Chalupa. It was only available for a limited time, so sadly I wasn’t able to try some. In the chalupa version, a fried chicken cutlet replaced the tortilla shell while the regular lettuce, tomatoes and cheese were in their rightful places. The “naked” part came from the fact that the meat was outside was opposed to inside the taco.

Doesn’t that look good? Makes you wish it never left the menu, right? After Taco Bell’s success with the Naked Chicken Chalupa, it’s now making its comeback in the form of a “chip.” The chicken chips will be available at participating Taco Bells on May 11 and you’ll be craving some dipping sauce to go with it. Lucky for us, their nacho cheese sauce goes beautifully with the new item.

“The world wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Naked Chicken, and neither were we,” said Marisa Thalberg, Taco Bell’s Chief Marketing Officer.

The chips are made up of all-white chicken meat seasoned with bold Mexican spices before being breaded and deep-fried. If you were a fan of the recently cut spicy chicken nuggets from Wendy’s, you’ll love these. Just thinking about it is giving me a crazy nugget craving. Ahem, sorry. Chip craving.

This menu item will be available in a six-piece order for $1.99, a 12-piece order for $2.99, or in a combo with a burrito, crunchy taco and drink for $5. Sign me up, coach.

The offer begins on May 11 and, just like the chicken chalupa before it, the new menu item will only be available for a limited time. You better find the closest Taco Bell now while you still can.
