So, Divorce Selfies Are A Thing Now?

There are some trends I can totally get behind, and then there are trends like this. Say goodbye to your marriage… and hello to divorce selfies.

How did this start? When did this start? WHY did this start? Sadly, I cannot answer these questions for you. All I know is that divorce selfies exist and they’re pretty darn popular.

Now, you may be asking, “What the heck is a divorce selfie?” That one I can answer and it’s quite simple. A divorce selfie is when one or both parties takes a selfie at any point during the divorce process. It can happen before, during, or after, and yes, it can be candid. (Surprise divorce selfies. What is the world coming to?) Some of them are light hearted and shockingly sincere, while others are just flat out awkward and hard to look at.

#divorceselfie Glad we can still be friends and laugh at this.

While this may seem like a silly trend, it really does bring up a lot of questions about how marriage and relationships in this day and age function. Granted, whether or not to get a divorce is 100% up to the couple, and if they can remain amicable (even continue to be friends) after all is said and done, then more power to them.

However, when something like this becomes a trend and trivializes the concept, one can only wonder what the point is.
