Weddings signify the joining of two families. In many cases, this means in-laws coming together, cousins connecting at family gatherings and siblings sussing each other out amidst bachelor and bachelorette party debauchery. No, this doesn’t mean hooking up with the bride’s cousin. A proposal is the chance to bring people together, and sometimes this means creating a family of one’s very own.
29-year-old Grant Tribbett knew that his girlfriend Cassandra’s 5-year-old daughter Adrianna was part of the family as soon the two started dating last year. He loved both of them and when he got down on one knee and made the decision to be in Cassandra’s life forever, he wanted to make sure that he also proposed to Adrianna, too.Daily Mail/Mandi Gilliland
Cassandra wrote about the sweet decision for The Knot’s How He Asked blog.
Grant took the mother and daughter out to breakfast. She had a feeling he would propose that day, but was “hoping and praying he wasn’t going to get down on one knee in the middle of a very busy Saturday morning brunch.”
Luckily, they changed locations and headed to the Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve.
“We walked a mile in the woods, all the while I was wearing heels,” she wrote. “It was quite the adventure, let me tell you! Finally, we got to a wooden bridge in the middle of the forest and he got down on one knee.”
But he wasn’t done after proposal number one.
“After proposing to me, Grant got back down to propose to my daughter,” Cassandra said. “He said, ‘Adrianna, can I be your daddy, to promise to love and protect you for the rest of your life?”
Oh wow, grab the tissues.
“As soon as he spoke those sweet words, I once again broke down in tears. Not the cute kind of tears either, the bawling type tears. My little heart could not take so much love!”Daily Mail/Mandi Gilliland
Adriana’s reaction was heart-wrenchingly adorable.
“Screaming with joy she said, ‘I finally get a daddy mommy, I finally get a daddy!'” Cassandra wrote. “He presented her with a beautiful heart necklace as a symbol that she now carries a piece of his heart with her.”

It wasn’t always easy for Cassandra to find someone like Grant, but she knew her daughter deserved nothing less than the best.
Before Grant, Cassandra admitted that she had always struggled to find the time to go out on dates given she had full custody of Adrianna. As they started seeing each other after meeting on Facebook, she had to make time, and eventually it paid off.
“The past six and half months haven’t been a walk in the park but with all the life challenges that were brought our way we have only come out stronger and more in love with one another,” she wrote.
“I have gotten to witness an attractive, charming bachelor become a positive, loving and utterly the most selfless father to my little girl.”
Now the whole family is headed down the aisle and we couldn’t be happier for them.Daily Mail/Mandi Gilliland
Congrats to the happy trio! We’re so excited to see you all come together as a family.
