Our boy band dreams just haven’t been fulfilled lately. Maybe you’ve missed the cheesy lyrics or the jaw dropping good looks. Maybe you’re more of the fun, choreographed dance type. Either way, music has been missing its resident boy band heartthrobs for much too long now, particularly since One Direction broke up.
One facet of the industry that hasn’t been explored in mainstream American culture, particularly the top-40 set, has been K-pop. The Korea-based sector of pop music has been long attracting millions of fans now, taking up its own major space in music and attracting dedicated listeners, but not quite breaking the fold into American everyday consciousness.
BTS is the boy band we need.
Made up of seven guys ages 19-24, BTS is a K-pop band that sings impressively, dances adorably and keeps fans following so loyally that they’re actually campaigning for them to take over the Super Bowl halftime show.
Their music is addictive and it’s clear that the boys work hard, which only adds to their appeal. They’re earnest, innocent and humble. Also, like you can’t deny their talent.
