Good News, Amazons: ‘Wonder Woman 2’ Is Officially Happening

After 75 long years, Warner Bros. finally gave us our Wonder Woman movie, shattering sexist assumptions that female-directed movies cannot make money — and that no one want to see a female superhero — in the process.

Ever since the film debuted with a $103.1M opening weekend, the whispers of a sequel have been more akin to a an all-out roar.

Finally, we have confirmation: Warner Bros. announced at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend that the sequel is happening and that Gal Gadot will be reprising her role as Diana Prince. If Twitter is any indication, people are ready for it.

Director Patti Jenkins has not yet been confirmed as director for the sequel, but as Entertainment Weekly reports, she certainly seems on-board.

“The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time.”
