Puerto Rico is still reeling from being hit by Hurricane Maria three months ago. With Christmas around the corner Jayden Perez, 8, wanted to do some good and spread holiday cheer to the kids in Puerto Rico.

What started out as a simple at home toy drive has turned into a massive success. His mom Ana Rosado posted videos of Jayden asking his friends and family to donate just one toy. In the video is shows Jayden holding a sign that says, “Mke a child happy in Puerto Rico. Please donate a toy.”

To say that his toy drive was a success is an understatement. With the help of his family, Jayden collected over 1,000 toys to donate to the children of Puerto Rico. People drove to his house and shipped toys from states away.

According to Splinter, Jayden has raised over $9,000 on top of collecting over 1,000 toys. Their basement is overflooded with donations and they have a whole team of family volunteers making boxes, packing boxes and shipping them out.
