Meeting your fiancé’s family is nerve-wracking no matter what, but when your future partner’s family is the royal family the stakes are immensely higher. Meghan Markle met all of Prince Harry’s extended family at Queen Elizabeth’s traditional Christmas lunch.
The Christmas lunch is so the Queen can celebrate the holiday with all of her family, including the members who aren’t invited to her estate on Christmas day. Only immediate family members are invited to the Queen’s Christmas day festivities. But she made an exception for Meghan, even though she is technically not part of the family until her and Prince Harry are married.

The lunch’s guestlist was stacked with distant relatives, all of whom Meghan was meeting for the first time. Dukes and Duchesses, Lords and Ladies showed up who are practically unheard of. If there is one thing the Royals love it’s their lineage. Meghan better be studying up, because being an American means that royal titles are super foreign to her.
