As a terrible gift giver myself, Christmas is a tough time. I can barely buy things for friends and my sister, and they like practically all the same things as me. So when it comes to buying presents for say, my boyfriend’s parents, a meltdown is inevitable.
Now imagine that situation, only your boyfriend’s grandmother is Queen freakin’ Elizabeth.
Meghan Markle faced that awkward situation for the first time a few weeks ago, when she attended the royal family’s holiday festivities with hubby-to-be Prince Harry. So what did the former Suits actress wrap up for the Queen?
A singing toy hamster.
Yes. A source told Daily Star Online, “Meghan bought a little hamster that sings with a little rope for Her Majesty.”
And even more surprisingly, it was apparently a hit that left Queen Elizabeth “in hysterics.”
The monarch’s beloved corgis apparently enjoyed the toy as well, as they apparently wanted to play with it themselves.
During Markle and Prince Harry’s revealing engagement interview, the couple revealed that the dogs were big fans of the royal-to-be from the get-go.
“The corgis took to her straight away,” Harry said. “‘I’ve spent the last 33 years being barked at — this one walks in, absolutely nothing.”
Markle, who has adopted two dogs herself, added, “They were laying on my feet during tea!”
