The news surfaced this weekend that Idris Elba is officially off the market — and no one is okay.
The Dark Tower actor surprised girlfriend Sabrina Dhowre at a screening of Yardie in London by going down on one knee, and the footage is making people emotional for more reasons than one.
“Another @riocinema first!” the London theater housing the screening posted to Instagram. “Still 5 days to Valentines Day but @idriselba went down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend live on stage this morning before a preview of his film #Yardie.”

The footage is admittedly adorable, with the audience erupting into cheers and applause as the pair embrace — but the response has been less enthusiastic on Twitter.
It turns out a lot of us were planning on marrying Elba someday.

Elba told Essence magazine just last year that he didn’t think he would ever get married again. “Am I ever gonna get remarried? I don’t think so,” he said. “Yeah, I don’t think so. Marriage is an institution of sorts. And I’ve done it. It’s not for everybody. It’s not my life’s calling.”
