Little Caesar’s probably didn’t expect to be handing out free lunch combos for a full three hours on April 2, but thanks to a March Madness surprise upset, that’s exactly what will be happening.
The pizza chain pledged to give out free lunch combos if a 16th seed team beat a 1-seeded team in the NCAA March Madness tournament (a feat that has “never actually occurred since March Madness expanded to include 64 teams“). Then, on Friday night, the University of Maryland Baltimore County bested University of Virginia in a shock upset. Or, as Little Caesar’s phrases it, “crazy happened.”
“Because ‘CRAZY HAPPENED’ with a #16 beating a #1 (!!!!), everyone in America gets a free #LittleCaesars Lunch Combo on Monday, April 2nd,” the pizza chain tweeted.
If you’re looking for a catch, there doesn’t seem to be one. The deal will only run on April 2 from 11am to 1:30pm, and is limited to “one per family” and “while supplies last.” Still, the free deep personal pizza and 20-ounce Pepsi product is entirely free, no $5 required.

S/o to the University of Maryland for succeeding in making me care more about basketball than I ever have in the past.
